The London & County Directory for 1811 has Jane Oliver listed at the Hop Pole. Jane was John Oliver’s widow (he died in January 1811) and she married William Folder in November 1812. They ran the Hop Pole until around 1816 when they moved to the Crown in Spa Road, Bermondsey.  ***

This Tapas bar is now in the building at 14 Gambia Street which was the Hop Pole – appears to have been a rebuild in the 1850’s when the railway was cut through that area. ***
