My gr.gr.gr aunt Sarah PARKS (nee CHAINEY) ran the pub with her husband Amos and family from at least 1861 to her death on 26.1.1878. Amos PARKS died there on 8.5.1872. Sarah died in a tragic accident outside the pub of "fractured ribs. Knocked down and run over in the public street accidentally. 9 days".  An Inquest was held into her death on 5 February 1878.  Sadly, I have not yet been able to track down a copy of the Coroner's Report - I am sure it would make interesting reading! **1861/Amos Parks/Publican/49/Cranbrook, Kent/Census **
