Southwark St George Martyr index
At 23 Lambeth road in 1869 and earlier (the 1842 directory lists it as Durham place, Lambeth road), then at 46 Lambeth road in 1884; There is a Gun listed in the 1789 Sun Fire Office insurance records as "corner of Cross Street, Lambeth Road", which was later named Joiners Place and then Joiner Street, which is where the St Georges Tavern is located, so this was presumably an earlier name. In a couple of records (a will of 1815 and a Sun Fire Office record of 1837) there is a Gun Tavern on London Road very nearby, so this may be a confusion or a vaguery of street naming at the time, so may perhaps have been the same pub. *
