The Blossoms inn was in the olden days named Bosom's inn ; and in 1522, when Charles the Fifth visited King Henry the Eighth, that hostelry was occupied by the emperor's servants. The great fire of 1666 destroyed all vestiges of the original edifice. It was rebuilt, and an engraving represents the sign as a figure of St. Lawrence, bearing the palm of martyrdom in his right hand, and supporting a gridiron.
