This house was on the north side of Tothill Street at its eastern end. The whole of the north side of the street was demolished in 1868 for the construction of the Metropolitan District Railway (today’s District Line). The Royal Aquarium was built on the site, which is today occupied by the Methodist Central Hall. *
In the circa 1865 photograph of The Angel at the corner of Tothill street and Princes street, Westminster. The photographer is standing outside the West entrance to Westminster Abbey, and the men on the left are standing by the railings of the Crimea and Indian Mutiny memorial (erected 1861). ***
