Application was made for the transfer of the Belgrave Tavern, North Finchley, from Francis William Swainson to Robert Herbert Hall.
Mr Swainston was on October 19th convicted at this court under the Gaming Acts and they had since refused to transfer the licence.
In their judgment, the licence was void, as Swainson had not complied with the Act by continually residing at the premises.
At the time the licence was granted to Swainson, an application was made for the transfer to a man named Oliver, who had no substantial interest in the house. Then the father put his son forward and directloy the licence was granted to him, Oliver was put into the house. It wanted a good deal of explanation.
Because Swainson had resided on the premises at least three times a week, the licence transfer was granted.
