My father Mr William Foreman late, was the Tenant of the Havelock from
approximately 1969, we left there in, I think summer 1974. My Ma is called
May, elder brother, William. I have two older sisters, Denise and Heather
Ann. We had a very pretty barmaid called Lillian, who said she was the best
paid barmaid in Shields, we still have a photo of her in her red hot pants!
A man called Davy Thompson used to look after our pub when we went on
holiday, but he wasn't a barman, best described as a Manager, very nice
person. When my father was the Tenant the pub was owned by Watney Mann
brewery. My bedroom had the red barrel all lit up outside. It wasn't on
Havelock street, it was on Saville street, the Main Street at the time. The
door to enter and exit the living accommodation was on Camden Street, number
10. So we had 2 legitimate addresses for the same building!!! *
