I am researching a friends family history and I believe her 4GGMother Ann Higgs, married Thomas Higgs, the publican at the Crown in Charlton on Otmoor.
The evidence I have is the 1841 Census that has Thomas (60) a publican living with his wife Ann (55) in Charlton on Otmoor.
Followed by a newspaper report in January 1844; an application for a spirit licence in 1846 and then the 1851 Census which has Thomas (70) a victualler and his wife Ann(66) living with Ann's grandson George Savage (16) a butcher in Charlton – on Otmoor.
I have also found a newpaper article from 1828 that refers to "the publican of Charlton, Oxford, Ann his wife".
Thomas Higgs died in 1859 and was buried in Charlton on Otmoor. *
