SHIPTON-ON-CHERWELL, situate 2 1/2 miles from Woodstock, and 6 from Oxford,
is a very small parish and village, in the hundred of Wootton. The church,
dedicated to St. Jerome, is a neat square edifice, in the modern style, with
embattled tower, containing two bells: the building is in good repair. Tbe
living is a rectory, value £300, and in the Woodstock deanery. The Rev.
Henry John Passsand, M.A., is rector. A Sunday school is held, superintended
and supported by the Rector. Population, 139.
