The Crown & Anchor was de-licensed in 1936 and turned into a farm; i.e. Home
Farm, Greetham. Mrs Edith Finch who owned the freehold left the property to
the Temperance Society who promptly sold it, and the rest of the estate to
the Merchant Venturers in 1948.
It was run as a farm from 1937 until 1977 when I purchased it along with the
acreage that went with the Inn for the use of travellers, horses, geese,
cattle etc. *
There are photographs of it as an Inn [not just a public house] in Victorian
times and on various other occasions and of course as it is today, it really
hasn't changed at all. *
