City Death of Ex-Licensee
A licensee for 34 years, Mr John Yarwood, of 10 Cecil avenue, Hanley died after a short illness. He was aged 63. Mr Yarwood, who leaves a widow and four children, was a strong supporter of Stoke City Footbal Club and Norton Cricket Club. He became a licensee on demobilisation from the Forces in 1918 taking the Eagle and Snake, Burslem, and later the Ship Inn, Burslem. He becamce licensee of the Railway Tavern in 1939 and stayed there until his retirement in 1952.
