I looked up the Golden Boar as this was a pub I often visited during the late
40s when visiting a great uncle. The Golden Boar was run by various members of
the How family from the early 1900s until at least the 1970s.
Most of this time it was run by George How, my great Uncle, and later by his
sons. In the Golden Boar there are a number of photographs of those days when
the How's and associated families ran and formed the village sports teams. I
have a photo of the pub in 1933 and some other photos including when George was
the oldest resident in Freckenham aged a young 82, he actually lived to be aged
88. ***
