GOSBECK is a parish and scattered village, in Bosmere and Claydon
hundred and union, Ipswich county court district, rural deanery of Bosmere,
archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, East Suffolk, 3 miles east from
Needham Market station, 7 north from Ipswich, and 6 from Debenham. The church of
St. Mary is a building with a tower. The living is a rectory, annual value £395,
with 12 acres of glebe, In the patronage of Pembroke College Cambridge, and held
by the Rev. William Hamilton Attwood, B.A. Rear-Admiral Sir George N. Broke
Middleton, Bart., is lord of the manor. The population in 1861 was 301, and the
