HACHESTON is a village and parish, in Loes hundred and rural deanery, Plomesgate union, Woodbridge county court district, archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, East Suffolk, on the river Ore, between Wickham Market and Framlingham, 4 miles south-east from the latter place, and 83 from London. The Framlingham branch of the Fast Suffolk Railway passes through the parish. The church is named All Saints. The living is a vicarage, annexed to that of Parham, joint annual value £209, in the gift of Frederick Corrance, Esq., of Purham Hall, and held by the Rev. Charles Thomas Corrance, M.A. There are several small charities, left by different people for the relief of the poor. There is a Charity school, supported by the widow of the late Andrew Arcedeckne, Esq.: likewise a Charity school, endowed by Edward Porter, Esq., in 1703, for the education of 12 boys of this and the adjoining parish of Parham. There is a fair held by charter on the 3th of November, for toys, ice. The population in 1861 was 526, including the humlet of GLEVBRIKG, and the parish contains 1,751 acres; the net properly assessment is £2,866 17s. 6d.
