KETTLEBOROUGH is a parish and village, in Loes hundred, union of
Plomesgate, Framlingham and Saxmundham county court district, rural deanery of
Wilford, archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, East Suffolk, 2 �
miles south-west from Framlingham, 4 from Wickham Market, 9 from Woodbridge, and
85 from London. The church of St. Andrew has a nave, chancel, south porch, and
tower with 3 bells. The register dates from 1560. The living is a rectory,
tithes commuted for �410 yearly, with residence, and 17 acres of glebe, in the
gift of, and held by, the Rev. George Thomas Turner, M.A. The Duke of Hamilton
is lord of the manor. The rent of the town estates, �21 12s. 6d., is given in
coals among the poorer classes of the parish. The property assessment in 1852
was �1,835 18s. 10d. The population in 1861 was 359, and the area is 1,435
acres, most part arable and meadow.
