Livermere Magma is a small village, 3 � miles from Ixworth, and 6
from Bury St Edmunds station, in Thedwestry hundred, Thingoe union, Bury St
Edmunds county court district, rural deanery of Blackbourn, archdeaconry of
Sudbury, and diocese of Ely, West Suffolk. The church of St Peter is a small
building, with thatched roof and tower. The living is a rectory, with that of
Livermere Parva annexed, joint annual value �440, in the gift of Rear-Admiral
Sir G N Broke Middleton, Bart, C.B., of Shrubland Park, and held by Rev Augustus
Asgill Colvile, M.A., of Christ Church, Oxford. Livermere Hall is a handsome
building, situated in a park, with a fine stream of water. Rear Admiral Sir G.
N. Broke Middleton, Bart., C.B., is lord of the manor. The population in 1861
was 290, and the area is 1,549 acres.
