RINGSFIELD is a village and parish, in the hundred, union, and rural
deanery of Wangford, county court district of Beccles, archdeaconry of Suffolk,
and diocese of Norwich, East Suffolk, 2 � miles south-south-west from Beccles.
The church of All Saints is an ancient building, with a tower and thatched roof,
and has 2 bells; the interior is very neat, and is filled with elaborately
carved oak pews and pulpit. The living is a rectory, with that of Little
Redisham annexed, joint annual value �550, with residence, in the gift of E.
Staples, Esq., and held by the Rev. Robert Whiting, M.A., of St. John's College,
Cambridge. The population in 1861 was 324, and the area is 1,666 acres.
LITTLE REDISHAM was anciently a separate parish. The ruins of the church are
enclosed with a wooden fence in a field near The Hall, which is the seat of John
Lewis Garden, Esq. (lord of the manor): it is n modern building, commanding
extensive views. There is an Independent chapel. Letters through Beccles, which
is the nearest money order office
