SAPISTON is a parish and small village, closely adjoining Honnington,
in Thetford union and county court district, Blackbourn hundred and rural
deanery, archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Ely, West Suffolk, 4 miles
north-west from Ixworth, and 10 from Bury St. Edmund's. The church of St. Andrew
is a stone building, with tower, containing 4 bells. The living is a perpetual
curacy, value £100, with residence, in the gift of the Duke of Grafton, and held
by the Rev. Arthur White, M.A., of Magdalen College, Cambridge. There is a
Parochial school, erected by the Duke of Grafton. The population in 1861 was
255, and the area is 1,230 acres.
