The Commonwealth Tavern, was converted from two cottages is 1866, it was originally called The Dominion, then The Commonwealth Tavern,
and it was The Fountain in the 1990s and ended its days as The Valley. It closed in August 2012 and was demolished shortly after.
Next door is The Commonwealth Cinema (opened 7.7.1913), by 1923 it was the Valley Cinema & Varieties and it closed in 1929, never having been equipped for sound.
