The Crown Brewery is mentioned in newspapers, in 1861 when a price list of the brewery, run by Healey and Co. In 1887, Scotts Tailoring establishment describes itself as opposite the Crown Brewery, Guildford street. In 1897, a presentation of the employers of Messrs Healy (Friary, Holroyd and Healy Ltd), Crown Brewery, Chertsey at the resignation of a Mr G Norfolk, after 17 years service who is to take over relieving officer for the Chertsey Board of Guardians. Mr Simmons is listed in 1891 as a retired brewer, living in Addlestone.
