Mr J Funnell.
The founder of Messrs. Funnell, Dyson and Gregory, the Croydon firm of process engravers, Mr John Ashby Funnell of Homefield Road, Old Coulsdon dies last week. He was 57.
Mr Funnell, who was born in Croydon began his business career when he
assumed from his father the proprietorship of the Purley Arms public house.
In 1934 he founded the engraving firm, and at the time of his death he was
the last of the original directors still with the firm. He was also at one
time a director of "The Croydon Times". ***
