Rob Jarvis, landlord of the Spotted Dog in Dorking said that few licenses have even bothered to stay open during the afternoon.

A couple who formerly ran the Spotted Dog pub in Dorking for 26 years are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Bert Blackaby and Win first met at a tennis match in 1938, at Barking. Four years later they married at St Margarets church, Barking after Bert had obtained leave from the RAF.
They have two children, John and Jane, and five grandchildren. Bert and Win both have spent their retirement running the bar at Dorking bowling club.
Albert W Blackaby married Lavinia E M Cotterill in Ilford, in 1942.
