On researching my OSBORNE family connection I have come across a 1871 Census for “Peckham, London” in which an Emma Jane OSBORNE (Senior) was living at the Conquering Hero Public House and her occupation was “Mistress” of the same residence/business. Her daughter Emma Jane Osborne (aged 15) was also living at this address. *
Emma Jane (Senior) was married to Henry Osborne, initially a Farmer from Alvaston but when their daughter Emma Jane (the younger) married in 1872 in the Parish Church, St Mary Newington, her marriage certificate recorded Henry as a “Beer House Keeper”.
In 1861 census they are living with parent in laws (William and Jane Hudson), at the Silver Lion Inn, Litchurch, Derbyshire.
