Putney pubs history index
Still trading in 2018 and with awards as one of the best pubs in the country, and CAMRA awards. It re-opened in 2005 after being saved from demolition; and apparently dates back to 1826. Waterman street was named River street until about 1940. It is only listed by address on most of this site, as it was previously a beer house.
The 1911 census lists the address as at 32 River street, and next in the census is Gay street, which is the earlier address as River street was only numbered to #12 in the 1901 census. In the 1871 census, there is a beer house at 18 Gay street.
