South London Chronicle 22 June 1867
The Alliance, South Norwood - Te Croydon Magistrates on Saturday granted to Mr Alfred Holder, a licence for this house. It appears that on a former application the licence was refused.
Mr Sleigh made an application under the 14th section of the act. In 1866 the licence was held by Sinclair, when he morthgaged the concern to Day and Noakes. Some time after this Sinclair absconded and the mortgagee employed Holder as their manager, and in February 1867, they disposed of the premises to him.
Holder came to the Bench on the next practicable day and asked to have the licence transferred to him.
