Octogenarian Licensee - Mrs Emily SCott
One of Surreys oldest licensees, Mrs Emily Scott of the City Arms, Portsmouth road, Esher died on Si=unday, aged 81.
A native of Hitchin and the daughter of a licensee, she came to Esher at the age of 16 to assist her uncle, the late Mr J Hillsden, then licensee of the City Arms. She married Mr Walter Scott, who after being licensee of the Claremont Brewery Tap for eight and a half years, went onto the City arms. He died in 1916, and Mrs Scott took over the business in which she was active until recently.
