My great grandmother was running the pub at 34 Kemp Street with her new (third
husband ) in 1894 ( see attached marriage certificate). Just as an aside, she
puts her age as 'around 40' on the certificate. She was in fact aged 53, married
to a man of 24. Not bad for third time round. ***
31st March 1894 Marriage certificate: ***
Ernest Clifford Dyer, 24 years, bachelor and pianist (son of William Dyer,
Photographer) of 34 Kemp Street marries Mary Tidy, about 40 years, Hotel Keeper
and Widow, of 34 Kemp Street (daughter of John Allis Pace, Hotel Keeper) ***
There is an John Allis Pace at the Kings Head, Hastings in 1858,
