Hastings and Bexhill Independent. 10 May 1900
Auction of Licensed Houses. Messrs Dowsett, Knight and Co offered for public sale some well knwon hostelries in East Sussex.
Lot 1 a beerhouse, the Barley Mow, Punnetts Town, in the Parish of Heathfield. This property was withdrawn at £1,140.
The Brewers Arms, or "Clappers", Vines Cross, in the Parish of Heathfield, let at £30 a year, was withdrawn with no offers.
The freehold property opposite, comprising three single and one pair of cottages, with gardens, let on weekly tenancies and producing £29 18s per annum, sold for £660.
The fully licensed public house known as the May Garland Inn, Horsham road in the parish of Hellingly, together with a grocers shop, garden and orchard land attached, the whole let on a yearly tenancy of £29 was next offered. The sum of £2,550 was reached but the property did not change ownership.
The Six Bells, Chiddingly had £2,050 offered, but no sale was effected.
The freehold ale and stout house, with an on and off license, knwon as the Potters Arms Dicker was next offered. At £1,100 the property was withdrawn.
In the room, £1,700 was offered for the Brewers Arms situated in the High street, Hailsham, an hostelry formerly known as the Railway Arms, Subsequently the property was disposed of for £1,750.

The license for the Potters Arms, Lower Dicker, Hellingly was temporarily transferred from Mr George Bridges to Mr Henry William Fairhead, of Brighton.

Mr Charles Clark applied for a license for the Potters Arms, Lower Dicker, Hellingly
Mr Clark said he made a special practice of catering for teas, and an increasing need for wine with meals.
