A full license known as the White Lion, Shortgate, Framfield, owned by Mrs Maxfield Smith, Lewes, the Licensee being Henry Sandars.
There were only three dwelling houses within a radius of a quarter of a mile, and they were nearer the Bell, Shortgate.
