Castle Hotel, Wellington Square, Hastings

Address given in 1832 as Priory. ** This was a proper, very large and very grand hotel in its day. It may have had a bar open to the public, but it was before my time, so I don't know. The hotel was demolished around 1970 and a Tesco store was built on the site. Tescos later moved on and the store is now called Poundstretchers and there's a snooker hall upstairs. Images of the hotel in its heyday can be found here and also here. ***
