Hastings pub history index

This pub was known as the 'Wine and Beer Stores formally of George Street' until 1866 when it became the 'London Stores and Oyster Luncheon Bar' and was allegedly frequented by many prostitutes. It became the Central Hotel in 1875 and kept that name until December 1945 when it was renamed the GI in honour of the American troops that used the pub during the war. In 1962 it became the New Central, then in 1979 it was renamed the Town Crier. In 1996 it became Pitcher's Sports Bar. It was later renamed Bar Moda and is now simply called Moda. ***
