A General Shop & Off License in 1911 census. This beer house stood opposite the Kicking Donkey and was also known as the Hole in the Wall. It became a fully licenced pub in 1952 and closed in the early 1970s. It is now a private residence, but has retained its name. In the 1860s there was a second pub in Hastings called the Hole in the wall at Clairmont. ***
