This may once have been the entrance to a Victorian music hall, although that is not certain. The first licence was granted to Charles West who had previously run the Anchor in George Street. This pub was for many years linked to bars below the music hall called West Cellars and both bars were later called the Bodega Bars. The cellars are now separate and are a used as a nightclub. The cellars have a separate entrance in nearby Havelock Road, although you could once also get to it through the upstairs bar, but not now. This popular pub has changed names several times and is now known as The Street. ***
