Hastings pub history index
Directory of Pubs in the UK, historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Hastings, Sussex . The Hastings, Sussex listing uses information from census, Trade Directories and History to add licensees, bar staff, Lodgers and Visitors.
This long gone town centre pub should not be confused with the York Bars, which were a 1960s/70s incarnation of the nearby West's Stores/Cellars. An image of the York Hotel, York Buildings can be found here. It is the building immediately behind and partially obscured by the Albert Memorial clock tower and to the right of the building marked Post Office. The pub was demolished some time ago and replaced by a shop. I don't know what sort of shop it was originally, but until recently it was a shoe shop. It is now a coffee bar/restaurant. ***
