Mr Jack Neal continues on at the Greyhound Inn, Keymer after his parents retire. As gar back as 1875, the licensee of the inn was a Mr Edward Allfrey, and the wife of the new host is his grand daughter. In 1887, Mr George Mason took charge of the Greyhound, and his daughter Minnie married Mr Frederick Neal, who took over in 1898. Thus the family association goes back for 56 years.
The Greyhound Inn appears to have been built around a big tree, the trunk of which runs through the centre of the building. It is probably seventeenth century, though some authorities have assigned it to the Tudor period.
