Beach Hotel, South Terrace, Littlehampton

Littlehampton pub history index

The Beach House Hotel, then Beach Hotel, Beach then Beach Terrace and later South Terrace.
The Beach Hotel went through two forms. The Beach Hotel went through two forms. The first building was built in the 1770s and is shown on the 1876-1882 1:2500 scale County Series Ordnance Survey map angled at approximately 45 degrees to the nearby South Terrace roadway. A new Hotel was built alongside it in the late 1880s, and the two building existed alongside one another for a while before the original building was demolished.
The later building remained in use until the early 1980s when it closed and was subsequently demolished to be replaced with the Beach Crescent range of flats. Some of the original garden walls remain in the new perimeter walling around the new flats. *
