When the ‘Crown Inn was being rebuilt in the late 1920s, old passages were found in the cellars, leading away from them underground. One passage is reputed to link to the cellars of the ‘Dolphin’ pub and all the passages are believed to be part of the secret smuggling routes which, some say, went underground to the Fisherman’s Quay. **
