Littlehampton pub history index
This hotel was used by the fledgling commandos unit based in
the town in the last war under the command of Ian Fleming the author of the
James Bond books & films. These soldiers played key roles pre and post the D Day
landings behind enemy lines in France and many lost their lives or were wounded.
Many wrote their names on a board in the bar and it is understood that this has
been rescued in the remodelling.
Closed mid 2000s, now remodelled for private residences 2013. *
