The Plough beerhouse, Mayfield owned by Messrs E & H Kelsey of Tunbridge Wells, and licensee is Thomas Humphrey. He had been licensee for 22 years.
There was no stabling, and it was in a lane leading off the high street to the Mark Cross. During the month there had been 30 lodgers, up to four a night.
An estate was about to be built close to the station. The license would be useful to the men engaged in the building men.
Edward McKelsey, of the firm owning the house said the trade in 1907 was 65 and a half barrels, in 1908 it was 58, and in 190 58 and a half.
Committee refused the license, subject to compensation.
