Mr John Francis Hickman has taken over the well known Royal Oak Inn, Pevensey. A Bedfordshire man, Mr Hickman was a brewer early in lfe, and afterwards managed the estate of Mr George Gosland, of Friday street.
He has been secretary of the Pevensey and West Ham Conservative Association.
The Royal Oak is opposite Pevensey Castle and has been in the same hands since 1880.
Mrs Chantler, who has for four years been connected with the Sussex Hotel, Eastbourne, will be manageress of the Royal Oak.
