2008 Coventry Live, Less than 10 years ago, the pub was officially and affectionately renamed Alties - in memory of Dick's father, Altie Twigger, who ran the pub for 36 years from 1931 to 1966.
Dick then took over the pub and ran it with his wife, Nellie, for 16 years until 1984. Dick became the third generation of the Twigger family to have his name above the door. His grandfather, William Twigger, had run the pub between 1906 and 1922.
