My great grandfather was Leonard Phillips; when he was married in 1888 his occupation is given as Publican. He had lived with his father at 339 Cheapside prior to his marriage. In the same year, 1890, his father died, and Leonard and his wife moved to 339 Cheapside where by 1892 he is listed as Newsagent. In later life, as per our previous correspondence he returned to being a Publican. *

In the 1891, 1901 and 1911 Censuses Edward Dunn was indeed at 5 Cheapside and listed as “Publican”. In the 1911 Census his wife, Mary Ann and “sister" Sarah Jane Barton, a single woman, are both listed as “Assistant".  Edward and his wife are still at 5 Cheapside in the 1920 Electoral Register. *
