John Oates, Publican, aged 30, Emily Oates, aged 30 Ann Oates, aged 4 , William Oates, aged 5 months, Hannah Carlton, a Female Servant aged 20 and Cicily Sampson, a Female Servant aged 15 and all are born in Yorkshire

Marriage on Wednesday 29th at Acaster Melbis, is Mr James Empson of Bishopthorpe, farmer to Margaret, youngest daughter of Mr Oates, of the former place, and sister to Mr John Oates of the Brown Cow Inn, Bishopthorpe.

begs informally to inform the Visitors and Public in general that he has Entered upon the above Old-Established Inn, and fitted it up in a superior manner, at a considerable Cost, for the Pleasure and Comfort of those who may honour him with their Patronage, which it shall ever be his constant Study to merit, by keeping the best Wines, Spirits &c, that can be purchased.
R=Tea and Coffee served up in the first style, on the most reasonable Terms.
