Brett v Crowther. Mr Brett, who is a wine and spirit merchant. Church lane, Spurriergate, sought to recover possession of a public house, the Kings Arms, Kings Staith in the occupation of the defendant, Mr Crowther.
The defendant was originally allowed to come into occupation of the property by the late Mr Bielby, of this city, brewer. On his death, his widow arranged to give it up to Mr Brett.
Mr Sanderson, ironmonger, the owner of the property, from whom Mr Bielby had leased the house, also agreed to accept Mr Brett as tenant.
A half years rent of £8 and 5 shillings was due to the plaintiff on the 1st January last, and that sum was paid to him by the defendant, thereby acknowledging Mr Brett as his landlord.

For many years this was the Ouse Bridge Inn.
