Mr Mann applied for a license on behalf of Mr Roundell, the landlord of the St Georges Tavern, in Margaret street. The premises had been occupied as a beer house for the last sixteen years, and had always been respectably conducted.
Mr Roundell was a respectable man, having been for the last sixteen years employed at the establishment of Messrs Close, Ayre and Nicholson, iron-founders, and for nine years he had been landlord of the St Georges Tavern without a word being said against him.
The license was still refused as there was a suffuicient number in the district.
