Attempting to bribe a policeman - Dora Ann Oliver, widow and landlady of the Trumpet inn, Townend street, The Groves, was summoned for Attempting to bribe a police-constable.
PC Bain siad that at midnight on Saturday he saw a man knock at the door of the Trumpet inn, which was opened by some one inside, and the man went in.
The constable knocked at the door, but it was not opened. A few minutes afterwrds the door was again opened and the Defendant said to the witness - "Come in Mr Policeman. You know this is a well conducted house, and you must not rpeort it" and he said he must do his suty.
First offered a drink and then money if he would not report the case.
Fined thirty shillings and costs.
