[By the time of the 1911 Census record, Thomas Rawson was a Shopkeeper selling herbs in Sheffield, instead. Thomas was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, but spent part of his childhood in my hometown of Buxton. I think that it is possible that this Thomas is the grandson of the Thomas Rawson who was the publican at the Boat House Inn at Matlock Bridge back in the 1880s.
I'm aware that there was another Thomas Rawson who was famous for brewing the first porter in England. His company ran lots of pubs in Sheffield. I am unaware of any direct family connection between these two Thomas Rawsons. Probably just a coincidence, especially as the Birmingham Arms doesn't appear to have been one of the company's pubs.]
