George Boole Young was a Colour Sargeant in the 2nd Battalion in the 2nd Regiment of Foot. He joined up at 17 in 1857 and had a medical discharge in 1877 due to bronchitis. This is a photo of him having been promoted to Sargeant. He is an ancestor of mine. * He ran a beer house at 76 Langsett Road in 1879, at the New Inn, 183 Duke Street in 1881.
