South Street, Moor, is now simply known as The Moor. The area was often referred to as Sheffield Moor, or Little Sheffield. *
The numbering of the Punch Bowl seems to change over the years, but reference to the maps in the folder - 1829, 1851, 1889 and 1920 - clearly shows that it is the same building, distinctively set back from the road with its double bay windows. Unfortunately, Goad’s Insurance maps of 1896 do not appear to have covered this part of South Street. South Street was renamed “The Moor” in 1922. *
I think it probable that the Punch Bowl expanded into some neighbouring buildings. In 1896 it is shown as being 144 and 146 South Street. The site of the Punch Bowl is now a modern shopping outlet. *

1885 – several advertisements placed, for contractors to carry out alterations, for part of the front of the building to use as a shop and for a stand in front of the building (as is seen in the photos). The landlord was Mr George Mercer. (several newspapers) *
