David Beckwith was born 17th June 1791, in Messing Essex - the landlord of the Cock & Magpie, Stanford le Hope and also  of the Swan, on Horndon on the Hill at the same time, until his death in 1866 at the age of 75.
His estate went to his second wife Mary who continued to live in the house attached, and behind, the Cock & Magpie for approx. forty years.  His brother Thomas Beckwith was at the Western Arms, Silver End, Rivenhall. ***

I am a distant relative of Rueben Cottee through my 4 x Great Grandmother Elizabeth Cottee, she is the wife of my 5 x Great Grandfather, who is David Beckwith, born 1791, who was the Innkeeper to the Swan at Horndon on the Hill, Essex and Cock & Magpie at Stanford-le-Hope. David and Elizabeths son - my 3 x Great Grandfather was the Innkeeper following Rueben Cottee at the Swan in Maldon.  *+
